BENTONVILLE, Ark. - SWOSU Softball had four players named to Great American All-Conference teams on Wednesday night, headlined by
Chesnie Hewitt who earned first team recognition. The honors were announced at the GAC awards banquet which precedes the conference tournament set to start Thursday morning.
Jadyn Hook,
Taylor McMahon and
Alexis Taylor were all named to the honorable mention team.
Academically, SWOSU had 12 placed on the Academic Honor Roll, an honor earned by holding a minimum 3.5 GPA with one year of full-time college residency completed. Those included: Hewitt, Hook, McMahon,
Kaylee Barkley,
Rees Berkey,
Riley Lusk,
Jaycee McKee,
Shallen Mershon,
Kylie Morton,
Maddie Rahon,
Kirsten Sudderth, and
Sierra Woods.
This marks the first time since 2019 the Dawgs have had a first-team member, and it's also the most players (four) to earn All-GAC honors in the same span.
Hewitt (Delaware, Okla.) found herself as a first team recipient in her final year as a Bulldog. She led SWOSU in all batting metrics which includes batting average (.376), Runs (28), hits (59), as well as all extra base hits, home runs and RBIs. She ranks second in the conference with her six triples, fourth in total bases at 108, and fifth in slugging percentage (.688). Hewitt accumulated 19 hits in the final 10 games of the season where the Dawgs were 9-1 to close out the year. She started in all 46 games the Bulldogs played this season.
Hook (Tishomingo, Okla.) takes home her second straight all-conference honors as an honorable mention. She had hits in 14 of the last 18 games and 15 multi-hit games on the year. She crossed the plate 25 times to mark the second most on the team just behind Hewitt. In the field she completed six double plays which is good enough for T-6 in the GAC.
McMahon (Yukon, Okla.) took home her first All-GAC award as an honorable mention. She finished second in the league by catching 11 players stealing from behind the plate. At the plate, she hit .273 with six doubles and two triples as an every day starter.
Taylor (Frisco, Texas) led the Dawgs in the circle with 24 starts and a 14-10 record. She had a big role in helping the Dawgs qualify for the postseason tournament. In the final 10 games of the regular season where the Bulldogs went 9-1, she had eight appearances in which she provided six wins and a save to help SWOSU finish the year strong. In 2025, she totaled 106 strike outs as one of just one of eight players to cross the century mark. She is just one of eight freshmen to earn a selection to an all-conference team.
