Taylor Snags GAC Pitcher of the Week Honor

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Softball freshman Alexis Taylor was named the Great American Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday for week 13.

It's SWOSU's first time receiving weekly honors from the conference this season.

The Bulldogs played four conference games last week in the final stretch of the regular season, and Taylor saw action on all four of those. She finished with a 3-1 record in two starts and two relief appearances, helping lift the Bulldogs to necessary wins to qualify for the postseason tournament for the first time since 2019.

Against Northwestern on Tuesday, she threw a complete game in a 6-4 win, striking out seven.

Against Arkansas Tech, after suffering a tough 2-0 loss in the series opener despite pitching well, Taylor bounced back with relief appearances in games two and three – earning the win in both. In game two, she entered in the fourth inning with no outs and did not allow an earned run in 4.0 innings of work. In game three, she again entered in the fourth inning and this time with the bases loaded. Taylor minimized damage and went on to surrender just one hit in 3.2 innings of work.

Taylor finished the week with 19.0 innings pitched and five earned runs allowed. She struck out 16 batters and walked just three.
