EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Golf secured a first-place finish at the Diffee Ford/Lincoln Invitational on Tuesday for their first stroke play tournament victory of the 2024-25 season.
The Lady Bulldogs beat the field by six strokes – a field that included six other fellow Great American Conference opponents including Harding, who held a top 40 ranking.
SWOSU fought through challenging wind conditions on Tuesday that rolled into the state following storms that came through the night prior. The Lady Bulldogs led by nine strokes after round one and lost just three to the field the ensuing day to win it.
Ashlyn Acosta led SWOSU's success in round one. She fired a one-over par 71 as the lowest score of any golfer on the day. She ended 13th overall in the field after shooting an 80 in round two for her second straight tournament with a finish inside the top 15.
Freya Sala posted consistent rounds of 74 (+4) as SWOSU's best finisher in the tournament. She climbed from 12th to fifth and has now been the best finisher for the Lady Bulldogs in back-to-back tournament to start the spring.
Drew Dodgion ended eighth overall which included an opening round 73. Dodgion, along with Acosta, both birded five times in the tournament – tied for third most in the field.
SWOSU's next tournament comes March 17-18 when they travel to Miami Shores, Florida to take part in the Buccaneer Invitational, hosted by Barry University.
