PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – For the fourth time in program history, SWOSU Women's Golf will compete at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships, set for May 12-16 at PGA National Resort.

The Lady Bulldogs earned their spot after capturing the NCAA Central Regional title last week at St. Joseph Country Club in Missouri, marking the second regional championship in program history. SWOSU has now claimed three tournament titles during the 2025-26 season and recorded seven top-three finishes overall.

Previous NCAA Championship appearances for the Lady Bulldogs came in 2014, 2019, and 2024. SWOSU has also had two individual national qualifiers in program history, Drew Dodgion in 2025 and Ashlynn Hall in 2013.

In their most recent appearance in 2024, the Lady Bulldogs finished 14th. During the program's memorable 2019 postseason run, which also featured SWOSU's first regional championship, the Bulldogs tied for fourth after stroke play before advancing to the national semifinals in match play. In the program's first national championship appearance in 2014, SWOSU placed 12th.

This year's championship field features 18 teams and eight individuals competing in 54 holes of stroke play across Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Following stroke play, an individual national champion will be crowned while the top eight teams advance into match play to determine the team national champion. Match play begins Friday (May 15) and concludes Saturday, May 16.

Leading SWOSU into nationals is Freya Sala, who is making her second NCAA Championship appearance after competing with the 2024 squad. Sala enters the tournament as the 2026 Central Region individual champion, becoming the first player in program history to win the regional title. She also earned unanimous First Team All-GAC honors for the second consecutive season.

Joining Sala is Maria Velilla, the 2025-26 GAC Freshman of the Year and another First Team All-GAC selection. Velilla has finished outside the top 10 just three times in 11 stroke-play events this season and claimed medalist honors earlier this year at the NCAA Central Region Preview.

Sala and Velilla currently rank No. 4 and No. 5 in the Central Region with scoring averages of 74.9 and 75.1, respectively.

Daniela Espinoza also earned conference recognition this season, receiving All-GAC Honorable Mention honors after recording six top-20 finishes.

The Lady Bulldogs are led by 14th-year head coach Brad Fleetwood, a two-time GAC Coach of the Year and the 2024 WGCA Central Region Coach of the Year.

SWOSU opens play Tuesday morning at 7:00 a.m. (CT). Nerea Anton will be the first Bulldog on the course, followed by London Wilson, Daniela Espinoza, Velilla, and Sala in 10-minute intervals. The Lady Bulldogs are paired in the opening round with No. 1-ranked Wingate and No. 7 Cal State San Marcos according to Clippd Scoreboard rankings.
