RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Men's Basketball has been picked to finish fifth in the annual Great American Conference Coaches Poll, released Thursday.
The Bulldogs collected 79 total points in the voting. Southern Nazarene topped the preseason list with 119 points and nine first-place votes, followed by, in order, Oklahoma Baptist, Harding, and Arkansas Tech who all picked up one first place vote apiece.
SWOSU is coming off a 15-13 season in 2023-24, finishing 12-10 in conference play and earning a berth in the GAC Tournament for the third straight year under head coach
Brett Weiberg. The Bulldogs fell in the quarterfinals to eventual tournament champion Harding. Weiberg, entering his fourth season at the helm, has guided SWOSU to postseason qualification in each of his three years leading the program.
The 2025-26 roster features 10 returners from last season along with four newcomers — two freshmen and two transfers — as the Bulldogs look to build on last year's winning campaign.
SWOSU opens the new season November 14-15 against Newman and Missouri Southern at the GAC/MIAA Crossover. The Bulldogs' home opener is set for November 25 against USAO, with conference play beginning December 4. The GAC Tournament is scheduled for March 5-8 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
