Brett Weiberg

Brett Weiberg enters his fourth season as head coach of the SWOSU Men's Basketball program in 2026-27 after being named the 16th head coach in program history in the summer of 2023.

Weiberg has guided the Bulldogs to postseason berths in each of his first three seasons at SWOSU while coaching four All-Great American Conference selections. That group is highlighted by Ben Smith, who earned First Team All-GAC honors in 2024.

Weiberg brings more than 25 years of coaching experience across the collegiate and high school levels, including more than two decades in college basketball and extensive experience as a head coach.

Prior to SWOSU, Weiberg served as athletic director and head basketball coach at Madill High School from 2018-23. Before Madill, he spent five seasons as head coach at NCAA Division II Missouri Western State from 2013-18. Weiberg guided the Griffons to postseason appearances in four of his five seasons and, in 2016, led the program to its first postseason victory in six years and a berth in the MIAA Tournament quarterfinals.

Weiberg began his head coaching career at Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa in 2006 after spending the previous five seasons as an assistant under his father, Mick Weiberg, a member of the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. In seven seasons as head coach, Weiberg compiled a 129-87 (.597) record and coached 10 All-Conference selections. His final season culminated in a 27-4 record, Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference (OCAC) Championship and national junior college ranking.

His coaching career began in 1998 following a four-year collegiate playing career. Weiberg spent one season each as an assistant at Blinn College, Wayland Baptist and the University of Texas at San Antonio before joining the staff at NOC-Tonkawa.

As a player, Weiberg earned First Team All-Conference and All-Region honors at NOC-Tonkawa before transferring to NCAA Division I Sam Houston State. He served as a team captain at both programs and was a two-time Southland Academic All-Conference selection at Sam Houston State.

Weiberg holds a bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University (1998) and a master's degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University (2006).

He and his wife, Kristy, have three children: Jared Cole, Jayden Cora and Jackson Cash.
