MONTICELLO, Ark. – SWOSU Cross Country wrapped up competition at the Great American Conference Championships on Saturday with a ninth-place team finish, highlighted by four personal best performances.
The Bulldogs were led by senior
Makenlee Shieldnight, who ran to a 74th-place finish in a time of 19:58.85 — breaking the 20-minute mark for the first time in her career. Shieldnight improved 20 spots from her finish at last year's conference meet and is SWOSU's best placing at the conference race since 2022.
Fellow senior
Madison Radke also delivered a PR, running 20:17.20 to place 90th — an 18-spot jump from her 2024 result.
Freshmen
Emily Nelson (20:36.41) and
Stephanie Gallardo (21:45.39) each ran their fastest times of the season, setting new benchmarks to build upon moving forward.
Canon Russell (106th, 20:46.33) and
Kylie Nunneley (119th, 21:08.64) rounded out the Dawgs' lineup in Monticello.
