RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Soccer swept the Great American Conference's weekly defensive honors, as freshman
Lexi Johnson was named Goalkeeper of the Week and
Julie Andersen earned her second Defensive Player of the Week award this season.
This marks the fourth career GAC weekly award for Andersen, while Johnson earns her first.
Both were key in keeping opponents off the board, as the Bulldogs didn't allow a single goal against Northwestern or Southern Nazarene this past week. Johnson, making the first two starts of her career, saved all 12 shots she faced, including eight in against the Rangers. Andersen, meanwhile, recorded her 20th career shutout in a SWOSU uniform.
The Dawgs (9-2-2, 5-0-2 GAC) look to remain atop the GAC standings when they host ECU on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m., before hitting the road next week for two pivotal matchups against Harding and Ouachita Baptist in Arkansas.
