Young & Geasland Named GAC Players of the Week

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Emma Young and Kinsey Geasland have been named the Great American Conference Goalkeeper and Offensive Players of the Week, respectively, after leading the Dawgs to a perfect 2-0 week, the league announced Tuesday.

For Young, she earns her first weekly honor of the season and the third of her career after picking up two weekly nods during her freshman campaign. She totaled six saves on the week, all coming against Emporia State in just 45 minutes of action. She also allowed just one goal in Wednesday's win over Newman.

Geasland has played just two weeks of her collegiate career and is already a two-time GAC Offensive Player of the Week. She scored in both games the Dawgs played this week, with both goals coming on rockets that found the back of the net over the outstretched arms of the opposing goalkeeper. She added her first assist of the season against Emporia State on Saturday.

The freshman has now scored in three of SWOSU's four games this season and currently leads the GAC in shots (19), shots on goal (12), goals (3) and points (7) through two weeks of play.

SWOSU (2-0-2) looks to remain unbeaten with its final two non-conference matchups of the week. The Dawgs first travel to Western Missouri for an early 10:30 a.m. matchup Wednesday before closing the week against in-state foe Central Oklahoma in Weatherford on Saturday.
