WEATHERFORD – Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) Athletics officially introduced new head coach JR Head on Wednesday at a meet and greet social held on campus.
Head becomes the fifth head baseball coach in SWOSU's NCAA era and the eighth all-time.
Athletic Director Todd Helton began the speaking portion of the meet and greet, followed by SWOSU President Dr. Lovell and finally Head who was introduced by Helton.
Coach Head gave thanks to many in the room including his family, his predecessor, and the supportive alumni. He spoke on the privilege to build upon the existing foundation of the program and the exciting opportunity to lead a program he has poured into for well over a decade as both a player and coach. He also confirmed two assistant coaches from the 2023-24 season will be retained on his inaugural staff – Ben Schweinfurth and Garrett Davis.
Classes for the new school year and athletic season begin on August 19. The 2025 baseball schedule has not been released yet.
