HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – SWOSU Baseball had five players land on All-GAC Teams on Wednesday, led by
Landon Meyer who collected a First Team recognition.
Joining Meyer was
Kotaro Wakui on the Second Team,
Garrett Folmar and
Keaton Fisher as Honorable Mentions, and
Nolan McCrossin on the All-Defensive Team.
Academically,
Elijah Long,
Garrett Coiner, and
Zach Makarewich were three of 18 recipients of the GAC Elite Scholar Award – given to those holding the highest GPA in the conference with at least 70 hours of completed classwork. All three of Long, Coiner, and Makarewich, hold perfect 4.0 GPAs with Coiner collecting this honor for the second time.
Meyer (Lincoln Neb.) ended his regular season with a .349 batting average, which was fourth on the team, and 26th in the league. He drew 36 walks, the team high and started all 48 games for the Bulldogs. He led the GAC in runs scored with 61, which is also tied for the 33rd best mark in the Nation. Meyer had 18 multi-hit games on the year while batting a run in in 25 games this season. In the first conference game od the season we batted in five runs, a season high thanks to three hits and a home run, one of his 10 bombs on the season, four more than anyone else on the team and tied for the 10th most in the GAC. He was named the GAC Player of the Week in week two of this season.
Wakui (Niigata, Japan) earned Second Team honors his first year in a Bulldog uniform, he batted .352 on the year, the third best mark in the conference. He also played all 48 games for the Bulldogs, and had 193 at bats on the season, the most on the team. He had a team high in hits (68) while also leaded the team, and GAC in Doubles on the season with 21. Wakui added up 40 RBI's on the year and hit four home runs. He was the GAC Player of the Week in week six this season.
Folmar (Wichita Falls, Texas) and Fisher (Kalama, Wa.) each found a spot on the Honorable Mention list. Fisher led the team with a .384 batting average, which placed him as tied for sixth best in the conference. He also collected 61 hits on the season, 20 of which being for extra bases. Folmar appeared in 15 games on the mound for the Dawgs, He earned five wins to just three losses. He had a 4.02 ERA, which was a top 10 mark in the GAC and allowed just 31 runs, the fourth fewest among qualifying pitchers in the league.
Nolan McCrossin (London, Ontario, Canada) earned All-Defensive Team honors after his year at first base. He recorded 299 putouts on the season and just two errors, for a .994 fielding percentage, the third best in the GAC.
SWOSU also had 11 placed on the Academic Honor Roll, an honor earned by holding a minimum 3.5 GPA with one year of full-time college residency completed. Those included:
