In collaboration with the City of Weatherford, the SWOSU Rodeo draws nearly 500 competing cowboys and cowgirls. Competition will be waged in nine different events that include Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Breakaway Roping, Goat Tying, Barrel Racing, Bareback Riding and Bull Riding.

With three rodeos remaining, SWOSU's men's team currently ranks sixth in the Central Plains Region while the women hold a narrow lead in the top spot. The Bulldogs currently have seven competitors inside the top-5 in the region in a variety of events including: Bull Riding, Tie Down Roping, Barrel Racing, Breakaway Roping, and Goat Tying.

The SWOSU Rodeo is one of 10 events on the Central Plains Region schedule and will feature contestants from a large group schools in Kansas and Oklahoma. All rodeo events are sanctioned by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA), which is the rodeo equivalent of the NCAA, and all schools ranging from junior college to NCAA Division I compete against each other.
