With three rodeos remaining, SWOSU's men's team ranks eighth in the Central Plains Region, while the women hold the top spot.
Leading the way for the women are Cheyenne VandeStouwe and Braylee Ward, who sit atop the region in Breakaway Roping and Barrel Racing, respectively. VandeStouwe also ranks second in Goat Tying and leads the Women's All-Around standings.
On the men's side, Heston Harrison and Brandt O'Connor pace the Bulldogs in Saddle Bronc and Team Roping. O'Connor ranks fourth in the region as a header, while Harrison sits fifth in Saddle Bronc.
In collaboration with the City of Weatherford, the SWOSU Rodeo draws nearly 500 competing cowboys and cowgirls. Competition will be waged in nine different events that include Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Breakaway Roping, Goat Tying, Barrel Racing, Bareback Riding and Bull Riding.
The SWOSU Rodeo is one of 10 events on the Central Plains Region schedule and will feature contestants from a large group of schools in Kansas and Oklahoma. All rodeo events are sanctioned by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA), which is the rodeo equivalent of the NCAA, and all schools ranging from junior college to NCAA Division I compete against each other.
