EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Golf finished fourth at the Skip Wagnon Invitational, hosted by Central Oklahoma.
UCO won the event by five strokes, edging Central Missouri in second followed by another UCO squad in third. The field consisted of nine teams collectively.
The Dawgs started off hot as a team with a 287 team score in the opening round of the tournament. Two had eagles on Hole 18,
Anders Strand and
Lukas Hendricks, and the five team members combined for 17 birdies as a team. 14 strokes were added to the team's score in the second round, with another two in the final round.
SWOSU sat in fourth place after day one and finished in that same spot after Tuesday's action concluded.
Lukas Hendricks led the Dawgs with consistent rounds throughout the tournament. He was three-over par entering Tuesday and carded another 73 (+2) to finish 13th overall as SWOSU's top finisher.
Anders Strand and
Cameron Gallagher finished tied on the leaderboard in 23
rd place. Strand shot even par in his opening round but added seven strokes in round two and four in the final round. Gallagher sat inside the top-10 after back-to-back 71s on Monday before a final round 82 pushed him back in the standings.
Rounding out the team was
Mariano Racca and
Otto Heden. Both shot their best rounds in the tournament's first round. Racca replicated that first round score in the third.
With the conclusion of the tournament this week, SWOSU has just one event remaining leading up to the Great American Conference Championships. The Bulldogs travel to the Firekeeper Open, hosted by Washburn University on April 3-4 in Mayetta, Kansas to conclude the regular season.
The GAC's tournament will commence April 21-23 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
