FORT SCOTT, Kan. – SWOSU had another successful weekend at the Fort Scott Rodeo with second and third place team finishes from the women and men respectively.
 
For the women, it's yet another top-two placing – their fourth of the 2023-24 season. For the men, third place represents their highest finish so far this year.
 
The Bulldogs had two winners on the weekend, Brody McAbee and Dustin Sanchez. McAbee swept both rounds in Saddle Bronc with rides of 78 and 75 to win his first average title of the season. Sanchez's 83-point ride in the long round held up after a no score in the short go.
 
Libby Berger had the fastest time in barrel racing's long round, 12.82 seconds, but added five seconds to her time in the short go to spoil any shot at an average win. She finished eighth overall.
 
The women's team had three top-5 placings courtesy of the VandeStouwe sisters. Cheyenne VandeStouwe was fifth in Goat Tying, while Chenoa VandeStouwe was fifth in the Breakaway. The duo also teamed up in Team Roping and finished fourth overall thanks to a 7.2 second time in the short round good for second place.  
 
SWOSU Rodeo will break for the rest of the month of March and will return to action the first weekend of April. Four rodeos remain in the regular season circuit including the 51st Annual SWOSU Rodeo held in Weatherford April 11-13.
