COLBY, Kan. – Led by standout performances from freshmen
Reagan McIntyre and junior
Heston Harrison, SWOSU Rodeo opened the 2025-26 season with strong team finishes at the Colby Rodeo. The women placed second overall, while the men earned sixth.
McIntyre picked up right where the Bulldog women left off last year, claiming the Women's All-Around Title at Colby. SWOSU cowgirls captured the all-around crown in six of 10 rodeos last season, and McIntyre continued that trend by sweeping both rounds of Goat Tying and finishing fourth in the average in Breakaway Roping.
On the men's side, Harrison turned in the weekend's top highlight in Saddle Bronc Riding. After tying for third in the long round with a 73-point ride, he returned Saturday to win the short round with an 86.5-point ride—the best mark of the event. That score carried him to his first average title as a Bulldog.
Several other Bulldogs added strong results for the women's team.
Greeley Eastep tied for second in the Goat Tying short round with a time of 8.1 seconds and went on to finish tied for third in the average.
Cheyenne VandeStouwe placed third in the long round of the same event before settling for sixth overall in the average. In Barrel Racing,
Carli Stuva ran a 16.62 in the long round for third place and ended fifth overall, while
Braylee Ward's 16.25 in the short round earned her third in the go and fourth in the average.
With the first rodeo in the books, SWOSU returns to action September 25-27 at the Southeastern Oklahoma State Rodeo held in Durant.
