Box Score DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Softball opened the weekend series with Southeastern Oklahoma State on Friday afternoon by blanking Southeastern 7-0 and extending their winning streak to four games.
SWOSU has began GAC play 4-0 for the first time in school history. They hope to continue that undefeated start tomorrow with a doubleheader against the Savage Storm starting at 12:00 pm.
The Dawgs got rolling early and couldn't be stopped on the way to their fourth shutout victory of the year. Their offense has been clicking lately, scoring seven or more runs in their last four games.
Maddie Rahon produced almost all of the run-scoring offense for SWOSU. She hammered two home runs and had five RBIs on the day. She set the tone for the entire contest after she hit a solo shot to leadoff the game. Her third inning bomb brought in three runs and she knocked in her final RBI in the sixth.
The other two SWOSU runs came courtesy of a
Skyla McPhillips first inning single and a fielding error from Southeastern. The score could have ballooned even more than the final as the Dawgs left seven runners on base.
On defense,
Blaire Gentry took control from the circle. She pitched her second complete game shutout of the year, only giving up four hits and striking out a season high six batters through her seven innings.
Gentry got out of a couple bad spots throughout the game. She ended three different innings where runners were in scoring position including the second where SEOSU had bases loaded.
Skyla McPhillips finished 2-4 with an RBI, a double, and a run scored.
Jadyn Hook also ended 2-4 with a run scored.
