SWOSU Hoops sets sights on the 2024-25 season on the eve of competition. The Bulldogs kick off the new campaign at the GAC/MIAA Challenge, hosted in Russellville, Arkansas by Arkansas Tech, where they'll face Newman on Friday and Missouri Southern on Saturday.

Head coach Brett Weiberg enters year two at the helm. He and the Dawgs finished 10-12 in league play last year and qualified for the postseason tournament as the six seed after getting picked 11th – the same spot SWOSU finds themselves picked again for '24-25.

11 new faces join seven returners to make up the 18-man roster. MJ Warrior returns to the lineup as an everyday starter a year ago. He averaged 7.6 assists and 2.9 rebounds with a team high 106 assists. Eli Al-Debaran played in all 28 games a year ago and is also back. He averaged 5.6 points and 1.4 rebounds per game and knocked down 33 three-point shots at a 33% clip.

SWOSU lost senior Ben Smith to graduation and will look to replace him. In his final year as a Bulldog, he finished as a First Team All-GAC selection and joined the program's 1,000-point scoring club.  

Seven of the 11 newly added Bulldogs are true freshman this year. Three of the four transfers come from junior college, leaving one grad transfer to round out the recruiting class. You can find that release here.

13 home games are on the schedule this season, the first of which comes on Wednesday, November 13 against Oklahoma Christian. The GAC schedule gets underway December 5 at home against Harding.

Should the Dawgs finish inside the top eight of the regular season conference standings, they will take part in the GAC Tournament held March 6-9 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
