WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Golf will host a tournament this upcoming Monday and Tuesday, October 2-3, at Prairie West Golf Club in Weatherford.

The event, named 'The Perkins' after former SWOSU Athletic Director and Golf Coach Cecil Perkins, will feature seven competing schools and nearly 60 total golfers. It will be the first collegiate tournament held in Weatherford in the Brad Fleetwood coaching era dating back to 2013.

Action will get underway at 8:00 a.m. on Monday (Oct. 2) when teams will play two full rounds of golf. Tuesday's final round will also begin at 8:00 a.m.

Admission to the event is free, with spectator carts available on a first come, first served basis. Food will be available for purchase from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the clubhouse.

SWOSU has finished in the bottom half of two tournaments this fall to begin the 2023-24 season. The upcoming event on familiar territory should give the Dawgs added confidence and provide a kick start towards continued success.

SWOSU has qualified for the NCAA Tournament in 10 consecutive seasons, a date which coincides with the arrival of head coach Brad Fleetwood.   

The Bulldogs have been led this fall by Max Bialy who has finished as SWOSU's top golfer in both tournaments to start the season. Bialy is coming off an eighth-place finish at the Missouri Southern Invitational last week, representing his best finish as a Bulldog.

Anders Strand and Lukas Hendricks are also consistent players for the team as All-GAC selections from a year ago. Strand was also placed on the PING All-Region team by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
