TULSA, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Golf finished ninth out of 20 teams at the NSU Classic, wrapping up their second tournament of the fall.
Jack Phillips and
Ben Jackson paced the Bulldogs with top-20 individual finishes.
Central Oklahoma claimed the team title, finishing seven strokes ahead of Central Missouri. Pittsburg State, Harding, and Arkansas Tech tied for third, ten shots back of UCM.
As a team, SWOSU posted 50 birdies across 54 holes and finished 3-under par. The Bulldogs moved up one spot on the second day despite carding their highest round of the event (+1), after shooting 2-under in each of the first two rounds.
Phillips rebounded from his showing last week to fire a 3-under performance, with all three rounds at par or better. He improved his score each round, highlighted by a team-high 14 birdies and an eagle, and climbed 13 spots on the final day to secure a top-20 finish.
Jackson continued his strong start to the season, finishing 2-under in just his second collegiate tournament. He opened with a 2-under 69 that featured four birdies and stayed steady in round two with an even-par 70. Despite a +1 in the final round, he held on for a top-20 placement.
Conrado Diaz Ermacora carded two rounds of 71 and a 73 in between to finish +2. His second round was salvaged by an eagle on the par-5 14th after he had slipped to +4 late in the round. He tallied 11 birdies and one eagle overall.
Ryan Carlisle (+5) had his best showing in the second round, shooting even par that included an eagle on his final hole.
Sawyer Burleson opened with back-to-back even-par 71s but dropped with a 78 on the final day to close at +7.
SWOSU will return to action October 6–7 at the Skip Wagnon Invitational in Edmond, hosted by Central Oklahoma.
