COLBY, Kan. – Just as they did four different times a year ago, SWOSU Women's Rodeo finished in the top spot at the Colby Rodeo over the weekend in the first of four rodeos this fall and 10 total in the 2023-24 academic year.
 
SWOSU was led by three returning athletes: Libby Berger and the VandeStouwe sisters, Cheyenne and Chenoa. 

Cheyenne VandeStouwe took home the women's all-round title thanks to a second-place finish in the Breakaway and tying for third in Goat Tying. It's now her second win in the all-around since joining the team last season. Chenoa VandeStouwe's 6.8 second time in the short round of Goat Tying won the round and placed her in a tie for third in the average with her sister.
 
Berger won two averages last year in Barrel Racing and notches another one right away after winning the short round with a 16.45 second ride to claim the top spot overall.

 
Other top performers on the women's side included Hadley Teut in Team Roping, fourth in average including third place in the short round, and Hadley Tate in Barrel Racing, fifth in average including second place in the long round.
 
SWOSU's men did not find the same success this weekend. The Bulldogs managed 40 points as a team and finished 12th overall. Saddle Bronc rider Dahlyn Thomas had himself a 69-point ride in the long round but did not score in the short round. He finished tied for sixth in the average. Wyatt Bentz was 11th in the average in Steer Wrestling thanks to a 5.9 second time in his long round.
 
After this upcoming week is taken off, the college rodeo circuit continues September 28-30 at Southeastern Oklahoma State's Rodeo held in Durant. The women won the Southeastern Rodeo last year, while the men finished seventh.
