WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Basketball Head Coach Jeff Zinn has announced eight new student-athletes who are set to join the program for the 2023-24 school year.
 
This will mark Zinn's first official signing class from start to finish after being named head coach at SWOSU nearly one year ago, this week.
 
"We're very excited about our class," said Zinn. "We have some very good players with length and athleticism and expect everyone to be hard-nosed and tough on the defensive end."  
 
SWOSU signed two this fall and added six others this spring. Of the eight, five are from the state of Oklahoma with the other three from Texas.
 
Maebry Shields (Perry HS) and Chloe Cantrell (Anadarko HS) will be incoming freshman on the squad, while six will come to Weatherford from either a junior college or another university.
 
Mason Jones, a 5-11 guard, transfers in from NCAA Division I Tarleton State University while Hailey Grant, a 6-1 combo guard, comes to SWOSU from Missouri Southern State University who won the MIAA Tournament Championship and finished as the NCAA Central Region Tournament Runner-Up last season.
 
Lanie Gooch (Murray State College) and Beyonce Lane (Collin College) come from junior college teams that qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament last season.
 
Libbi Zinn will bring two years of JuCo experience from Northern Oklahoma College-Enid and Rees Berkey, a Hydro, Oklahoma prep standout, returns to Oklahoma after spending one season at NAIA Freed-Hardeman University.
 
"This group will bring good playing experience to us and will be ready to go right away. We're ready to hit the ground running this fall!"
