WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Softball will be back at the SWOSU Athletic Complex this weekend for a three-game series. Southern Arkansas, who is receiving votes in the national poll, will make the trip to Oklahoma for the series. It kicks off with a doubleheader on Friday, beginning at 2:00 pm.
SWOSU notched another tally in the win column on Tuesday when they defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva. A slow start in the game put the Bulldogs in a big hole off the bat, but SWOSU battled. They scored eight runs in the final three innings for the comeback win.
Southern Arkansas is receiving votes in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) week 10 poll. They have gotten votes in the poll every week this season, peaking as high as No. 6. Solid records this year validate these rankings as they are 28-12 and 16-8 in the GAC. The Muleriders are an all-around team, ranking top four in the GAC in team batting average, ERA, and fielding percentage. They also lead the GAC in slugging percentage and on base percentage. SAU has controlled the all-time and recent series. They are 31-7 against the Dawgs and have won 10 straight head to head games.
Kaylee Barkley brought her versatility against the Lady Rangers on Tuesday. She pitched 4.1 innings in relief. During her 4.1 innings, she only gave up one run and allowed the Bulldogs to gain traction for the comeback. Barkley also batted 2-5 while batting in a run.
Maddie Rahon has stayed hot over the last three games. Over that span she is 6-11, adding two extra base hits, two RBIs, and three runs scored. She did this while having a 1.000 fielding percentage from her shortstop spot in the field.
