50th Annual SWOSU Rodeo Information

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – The SWOSU Rodeo team is set to host its annual spring rodeo beginning Thursday (April 13) at Don Mitchell Arena on the BOP Ram Rodeo Grounds.

The 50th Annual SWOSU Rodeo takes place on Thursday-Saturday, April 13-15, at Don Mitchell Arena in Weatherford. Performances occur each night at 7:00 pm and slack takes place on Friday and Saturday morning, beginning at 9:00 am.

Adult admission is $10. SWOSU Students & Staff get in free with valid SWOSU identification. Kids 11 and under get in free.

In collaboration with the City of Weatherford, the SWOSU Rodeo draws nearly 500 competing cowboys and cowgirls. Competition will be waged in nine different events that include Team Roping, Saddle Bronc Riding, Steer Wrestling, Breakaway Roping, Goat Tying, Barrel Racing, Bareback Riding and Bull Riding.

With three rodeos remaining, SWOSU's men's team currently ranks fifth in the Central Plains Region while the women are leading the way in first. The Bulldogs have four competitors leading the region in the following events: Saddle Bronc, Bull Riding, Barrel Racing, and Goat Tying.
 
The SWOSU Rodeo is one of 10 events on the Central Plains Region schedule and will feature contestants from a large group schools in Kansas and Oklahoma. All rodeo events are sanctioned by the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA), which is the rodeo equivalent of the NCAA, and all schools ranging from junior college to NCAA Division I compete against each other.
