ADA, Okla. – The SWOSU Softball team will play away from home once again this weekend. They will take a bus trip down to Ada for a series with the East Central Tigers. It kicks off with a doubleheader on March 10, starting at 1:00 pm.
SWOSU comes into the weekend at 4-15 and 1-5 in GAC play. They will look to break a current four game losing streak. This includes the 0-3 series loss at the hands of Southeastern Oklahoma State last weekend. The bats need to come alive in Ada, as the Dawgs were pretty quiet in the box in the last series.
East Central sits at 5-11 overall and 2-4 in conference. The Tigers are heading into the weekend off of a series win against Southern Nazarene. ECU keeps things close with half of their games being decided by two runs or less. In recent history, ECU has controlled the series against SWOSU. They are 15-5 over the last 20 games played between the two schools.
Kaylee Barkley was a bright spot in the last series for the Bulldogs. She battled well in a relief appearance in game one. Barkley then got her first start of the year in the final game. She went the full seven for a complete game, the first of her career. She allowed just five hits and recorded two strikeouts. These performances rank her ERA at sixth in the GAC with a 2.31.
Jordyn Wadley continues to be a steady presence in the lineup for Coach Boone. She leads the GAC in walks with 14. She is also tied for third in the conference with four home runs on the year.
Katie Boline had a breakout game on last Friday against the Savage Storm. She went 3-3 with a double, triple, and added an RBI to her stat line.
