Box Score WICHITA FALLS, Texas – SWOSU softball had an exciting opening game of the Midwestern State Invitational on Friday night, winning 10-9 over Rockhurst. Dani Carmo was the hero in this one, scoring the first run with a single and the game winning final run with a single. This 10-inning doozy of a game's start time was 4:50 pm and the end time was 8:10 pm.
 
This win moves SWOSU to 2-3 on the young season. They will wake up tomorrow to face this same Rockhurst team about 12 hours from now at 9 am and then take on Fort Hays State at 11:30 am.
 
SWOSU started on fire in the first inning. Though they only got one hit in the inning, they scored four runs. Rockhurst walked the first four SWOSU batters to spot the Dawgs a run. A Dani Carmo single then moved all runners and an error caused two to score. Another run would come and the Bulldogs were up 4-0 going into the top of the second.
 
No more runs were scored until the fourth inning. A two-run double at the top got Rockhurst back into it, but a Jordyn Wadley three-run homer swung things back in the Bulldogs' favor. SWOSU was handed two more runs in the fifth even though they did not record a single hit in the inning. Rockhurst hit a home run of their own to cap off a three-run inning in the sixth.
 
Rockhurst was down to three outs in the top of the seventh, but rattled off four straight runs on consecutive batters to tie it up. This sent the game to extras. It was a stalemate until the bottom of the tenth inning. Dani Carmo sent a pitch into left field to score Tara Hibbler from third and finally end the contest.  
 
Kaylee Barkley got the win for SWOSU. She went the last 3.2 innings and gave up two hits and no runs to 14 Rockhurst batters. Carmo ended 2-6 with 2 RBIs and the walk-off hit. Jordyn Wadley finished 1-3 with a HR and 3 RBIs. This was her third home run of the year.
