Dawgs Take Three-Game Win Streak on the Road This Week

WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Men's Hoops will look to continue the momentum it gained last week with a pair of road games this week against Southern Arkansas and Arkansas-Monticello on the typical Thursday/Saturday slate.

The Bulldogs are riding a three-game win streak and sit in sole possession of seventh place in the conference standings.

At this point in the season, all conference games will be rematches of previous matchups in the second half of the GAC schedule. SWOSU will be looking to avenge an 85-80 loss to SAU back on January 7, while trying to sweep the series with UAM after defeating them 78-65 on January 5.

SWOSU's three wins in a row is the first time all season they have won consecutive league games. They got a huge lift last week from senior guard Chris Braggs, Jr. who averaged 23.0 points in three games and was recently named the GAC Player of the Week because of it. Braggs entered the week with a career scoring high of 18 points, which he had just recently set the week prior, and proceeded to post scoring totals of 18, 30, and 21 last week against Northwestern, Tech, and Harding.

The offense had other contributors as well. Both Ben Smith and Mark Berry also notched career high scoring efforts last week. Smith's came against Harding when he scored 28 points on 12-of-20 shooting, while Berry's 15 came against Northwestern.

A not-so-secret recipe for the Bulldogs has been getting to the foul line. In three games last week, they got to the foul line 112 times – making 77 of those at nearly a 69% clip.

SWOSU is an even 12-12 against SAU since the GAC began and are 5-5 against the Muleriders when the game is played in Magnolia.

Against Monticello in the GAC era, the Dawgs are 12-11 which also includes a 5-5 record when they travel to the Weevils.

SWOSU is 1-4 in conference road games this season.
