DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU got finishes of second on the women's side and fifth from the men in event number two of the new season at the Southeastern Oklahoma State Rodeo over the weekend. Marley Berger, in Tie Down Roping, and Hadley Tate, in Barrel Racing, both took home the top spot in their respective events.
 
Through two rodeos, SWOSU has swept the barrel racing category first with Libbie Berger winning at Colby and now Tate winning at Southeastern. Tate was fourth in the long round before tying for first in the short go to combine for the fastest pair of times in the event and win the average.
 
The women's team is off to another strong start with a team title at Colby and now a second-place finish at Southeastern. SWOSU also got strong performances this weekend from Hadley Teut in Goat Tying and Catherine Clayton in Breakaway. Both mentioned finished second in the average after tying for the top spot in Saturday's short round.
 
Marley Berger collects his first average win at Southeastern in a quest for another Central Plains Region Championship. Berger swept both rounds to claim the victory in both rounds, long and short, and then the average.
 
Aside from Berger, the men got top-5 finishes from Xavier Davis, fourth in Tie Down, and Jaylyn Hash, fifth in Steer Wrestling.
 
After a 12th place showing on opening weekend, the men's team improved to grab fifth over the weekend with nearly 200 additional points accumulated.
 
Both teams will rest up and prepare for the Oklahoma State University Rodeo held October 19-21 in Stillwater. There are two rodeos remaining in the fall portion of the schedule. The fall will conclude Oct. 26-28 at Northwestern Oklahoma State's Rodeo in Alva.
