EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Men's Golf wrapped up play at the NCAA Regional Preview on Tuesday where the Bulldogs finished 10th overall in the large 21-team, 105-player field.
Great American Conference competitor Arkansas Tech won the event by three strokes over Central Oklahoma. Harding's Sam Tandy, also a GAC representative, shot 11-under to win on the individual side.
The Bulldogs finished with a tournament leading 58 birdies as a team but could not consistently stay out of the plus numbers to keep in contention.
Senior
Cameron Gallagher led the Bulldogs as the top performer. He shot par or better in two of his three rounds and finished even through 54 holes. He played his best golf in Tuesday's final round after finishing with a one-under 69 and six birdies to his credit which included three-straight on holes 2-4.
Max Bialy was three strokes behind Gallagher and shot the lowest round of any Bulldog when he fired a two-under 68 in round two. He was inside the top-10 of the entire field on par-5s, finishing with a 4.44 average stroke count through nine total par-5 holes.
Sutton McMillan led all Bulldogs with 14 birdies. He was two strokes behind Bialy on the leaderboard and missed shooting under-par by one double bogey in his round Tuesday.
Rounding out the team was
Anders Strand, T-57, and
Lukas Hendricks, T-85. Strand's lowest round was a 72, while Hendricks' was a 74.
SWOSU's fall schedule concludes next week, October 23-24, at the Tulsa Cup – a tournament the Bulldogs tied for the top spot at a year ago.
