WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Baseball has finalized its schedule for the upcoming 2023 season.
The Bulldogs will play 50 games, 23 of those in Weatherford, spanning from February 1 to April 29.
Non-conference home matchups this year include contests against Adams State, USAO, Central Oklahoma, Cameron, and Southern Nazarene. Five home conference series will also be played in front of home fans against Ouachita, East Central, Arkansas Tech, Oklahoma Baptist, and Arkansas-Monticello.
The Great American Conference postseason tournament will be played in two parts this season, beginning on May 5-6 with a best-of-three series hosted by higher seeds at campus sites. The tournament continues the following weekend, May 12-14, with the remaining four teams in a double elimination style bracket.
The top eight seeds in the conference qualify for the GAC tournament.
The Bulldogs will look to avenge a 2022 season that saw them finish 19-27 and narrowly miss the conference tournament. Prior to last season, SWOSU hadn't been under the .500 mark since 2017.
Four starters from last year's day-in and day-out lineup make their return in 2023, paired with five pitchers who spent significant time on the mound. Accompanying the returners will be a slew of new faces, many from the junior college ranks.
The season opener comes on the road at Missouri Southern on Wednesday, February 1. A full view of the schedule can be found HERE.
