The Bulldogs return to the SWOSU Athletic Complex this weekend for a pivotal three-game Great American Conference series against Southeastern Oklahoma State Savage. The action begins with a doubleheader on Thursday, April 2, followed by game three on Friday as the race for the postseason heats up.

SWOSU enters the series with renewed energy after snapping a recent skid with a dominant run-rule victory over Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday. The Dawgs currently sit at 16-19 overall and 7-14 in league play, and they are focused on climbing into the top eight of the GAC standings to secure a playoff berth. The Dawgs currently sit three games back from the postseason threshold with a month left to play.

Historically, the Savage Storm has been a formidable opponent for the Bulldogs, often providing high-scoring and tightly contested matchups in Weatherford. SWOSU will be looking for redemption this weekend after dropping a non-conference meeting to SE earlier this season in mid-February.

Offensively, the Bulldogs are clicking at the right time, led by senior catcher Rusty Wortman and outfielder Kotaro Wakui, who both recorded multi-hit games in the recent win over the Bison. The entire lineup has contributed as of late, with all nine bats recording both a hit and an RBI against Oklahoma Baptist.

The Savage Storm brings a 20-14 record into the weekend and currently ranks second in the GAC with an impressive .970 team fielding percentage. Their lineup features dangerous hitters like Carter Olson and JJ Bush, while Estevan Fonseca anchors a pitching staff that has proven effective throughout the spring.

This series marks a critical juncture in the season for both clubs as they battle for positioning in a crowded conference field.
