Bulldogs and Rangers Battle To a Scoreless Tie

Box Score ALVA, Okla. – It was a rivalry game for SWOSU soccer on Tuesday when they took on Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva. The game ended in a 0-0 tie.

This game was the second soccer installment of the rivalry this season. SWOSU came out on top in the first 2-0 at the SWOSU Athletic Complex earlier this season.

The star of the game for SWOSU once again was goalkeeper Ashley Hughes. Earlier in the day she was named the GAC goalkeeper of the week for the second time this season and she proved why today. She faced nine shots on goal from a number of NWOSU attackers and she didn't allow a single goal. She collected nine saves, which is her second most this season and most in GAC play.

NWOSU outshot the Dawgs (14-13) and outmatched them in shots on goal (9-6). Both teams had openings to put points on the scoreboard, neither could find a way to do so in 90 minutes though.

Alimata Rabo tried her best to get the Dawgs on the board. She had six shots and two shots on goal in 67 minutes of play. Launa Torrez also added two shots and two shots on goal in her 30 minutes off of the bench.

SWOSU remains unbeaten in GAC play at 4-0-3 and moves to an incredible 4-4-5 on the year overall. Five ties in one season matches the SWOSU record for ties in a season (2017). They will be back in action on Thursday October 13 at home against East Central at 3:00 PM.
