WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Soccer finished its regular season with a scoreless draw against Northwestern on Saturday morning.
The Dawgs (8-3-7, 6-2-4 GAC) will enter next week's GAC Tournament as either the No. 2 or No. 3 seed, with the final seeding to be determined Monday.
SWOSU continued its recent success against the Rangers, extending its unbeaten streak against Northwestern to 24 consecutive matches. The Dawgs have not lost to the Rangers since 2014.
SWOSU largely controlled the match, outshooting Northwestern 24-5 overall and 11-4 in shots on goal.
The Dawgs came closest to breaking through late in the match when Saoirse Hourigan sent a free kick toward the lower-left corner. The Northwestern goalkeeper made a diving save, but the ball bounced out of her arms before the Rangers were able to clear it away safely.
Hourigan led SWOSU with nine shots, including six on goal. Elise LaForge, Braelee Epp, Maya Thornburg, Kinsey Geasland and Kayla Abbot each recorded a shot on goal as the Dawgs consistently pressured the Northwestern defense.
Emma Young made four saves across the 90 minutes to complete her fourth shutout of the season.
The Dawgs will now prepare for the GAC Tournament, with the semifinal round scheduled for Friday and the championship match set for Sunday.
