WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Soccer opens up the Fall 2021 season at home this weekend with two games against MIAA competition. Taking on in-state rival Northeastern State on Thursday, September 2 at 1:00 pm and then Central Missouri on Saturday, September 4 at 11:00 am.

Head Coach Mark Persson will hope his experienced roster can start the season strong with the likes of reigning Great American Conference Defensive Player of the Year Elizabeth Moreno and seven other All-GAC honorees returning for another run at a conference championship. The team last won the conference in 2019 and 15 girls from that squad are still with the team. The Bulldogs came in third in the GAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

A former Lone Star Conference opponent, Bulldog Soccer last took on Northeastern State in 2011 in a game that ended in a 1-1 draw. However, SWOSU has won three of the last five matchups between the two teams. The Riverhawks were picked to finish fourth in the MIAA Preseason Poll after going 4-2-1 in their shortened season last year.

SWOSU will then battle with powerhouse Central Missouri on Saturday, a team they last played in 2019 in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II National Tournament. The Jennies were selected in third place in the MIAA Preseason Poll and return two all-conference selections from their 2021 spring season team.

The Bulldogs last played in the spring of this year after their fall season was pushed back due to the pandemic.
