Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Softball will be at home this weekend for a four-game Great American Conference series against Southern Arkansas.
- The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1:00 pm before concluding the series on Saturday, beginning at 11:00 am.
- SWOSU enters the series after going 1-3 last weekend against University of Arkansas-Monticello.  - The Lady Bulldogs won the third game of the series on Saturday before UAM swept the series on Friday.
- The Lady Bulldogs are 2-6 overall and sit in eleventh in the Great American Conference.   
 
About the Opponent
#3 Southern Arkansas (17-3, 8-0 GAC)
- Southern Arkansas, have made back-to-back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances the last three seasons
- The lady Muleriders come into the weekend ranked number one in the central region and number one in the country with just three losses
- Last weekend, SAU swept Northwestern in conference play
- Southern Arkansas is currently riding an eleven-game win streak
 
The Coach
Kim Maher (34-83, 3rd Season)
- Named the fourth head coach in SWOSU Softball history in the summer of 2016 and she's now in her third season leading the Bulldogs
- Spent eight seasons as the head coach at Purdue University, leading the Boilermakers to 240 victories and two NCAA Tournament appearances from 2006-13
- Previously coached at Cal-Berkeley as an assistant coach from 2000-05 following a playing career with USA Softball and the Women's Professional Softball League (WPSL)
 
SWOSU Notes
- Last weekend, the Lady Dawgs went 1-3 against Arkansas-Monticello winning the third game in the series.
- In game one on Saturday, Hannah Franklin tallied four RBI's and hit a homerun for the Dawgs
- The Lady Bulldog pitching staff has struck out 32 batters led by Kaytlin Donaldson who has retired 16 batters on strikeouts
- Amanda Moreno continues to be a solid lead off hitter for Coach Maher and the Lady Dawgs boasting a .311 batting average and a .415 on base percentage

- The Lady Bulldogs will be at home again on March 13 playing a double header against Tarleton State University
