MONTICELLO, Ark. – SWOSU Softball heads to Monticello this weekend for a four-game Great American Conference series against Arkansas-Monticello. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 1:00 pm before concluding the series on Saturday, beginning at noon.
SWOSU enters the series after going 1-3 last weekend against Southeastern Oklahoma State in their first league series of the season. The Bulldogs won the second game of the series 3-1 on Sunday before Southeastern swept the doubleheader on Monday to claim the series victory. On Tuesday, SWOSU played a single non-conference contest against Cameron, falling 12-1 in five innings before the second game of the doubleheader was cancelled due to weather.
The Bulldogs come into the weekend 2-9 overall while ranking ninth in the conference hitting and 10th in team pitching. SWOSU is hitting .262 as a team with three regulars in the lineup hitting above .300, led by
Amanda Moreno at .387 with 12 hits, four doubles, three home runs and seven RBI.
Kaytlin Donaldson has 10 hits, two doubles and one home run to her credit while hitting .345 and
Hannah Morris has a batting average of exactly .300 with nine hits and three RBI.
SWOSU has used three pitchers this spring, with Donaldson recording both victories and she enters the week 2-3 with a 6.00 ERA in 28.0 innings of work with two complete games on her record.
Miranda Grover is 0-1 with a team-best 4.48 ERA and she's pitched in eight games this season, starting three. As a staff, SWOSU has an ERA of 6.79, having allowed 64 earned runs in 66.0 innings of action.
