WEATHERFORD, Okla. – For the fifth consecutive season, SWOSU Soccer will compete for the Great American Conference Tournament Championship and for the third straight year they'll be taking on Oklahoma Baptist in the tournament final. The 2019 GAC Championship match takes place on Saturday morning at the SWOSU Athletic Complex, with kickoff set for 11:00 am.
 
SWOSU advanced to the final with a 3-1 victory over Harding in the semifinals. The got a goal from GAC Offensive Player of the Year Sandra Nabweteme in the first half and back-to-back goals from Hannah Burks and Hannah Dahl in the second half that proved to be the difference. The win was the seventh straight GAC Semifinal victory for the Bulldogs, who will now look for their fourth GAC Tournament Championship after previously claiming the crown in 2012, 2013 and 2017.
 
Oklahoma Baptist picked up a 1-0 victory over Ouachita in the semifinals on Thursday and they will now meet SWOSU for the tournament championship for the third straight season. SWOSU won the 2017 edition by a score of 3-2 in Shawnee before the Lady Bison picked up an overtime win by the same score last year in a match that was also hosted by OBU.
 
Last Saturday, the Bulldogs and Lady Bison finished off the regular season by playing to a scoreless draw at the SWOSU Athletic Complex, a result that allowed SWOSU to claim the regular season championship over OBU and Ouachita. Oklahoma Baptist won the first meeting between the teams in Shawnee 1-0 and SWOSU has been unable to score a goal against the Lady Bison this season. SWOSU is winless (0-4-1) against Oklahoma Baptist since winning the 2017 GAC Tournament Championship in Shawnee.
 
Kickoff of the 2019 GAC Tournament Championship match is set for 11:00 am and it will be streamed live on the GAC Sports Network.
