STILLWATER, Okla. – SWOSU Rodeo put forth a strong effort over the weekend in Stillwater at the OSU Cowboy Stampede, with the women's team claiming first place at the rodeo while the men's team took third.
 
The Women's Team picked up their first rodeo win since February 2017 behind some very strong individual performances. Kristin Reaves was first in Goat Tying after placing second in the long round (6.7 sec.) and winning the short round (6.5) while Mable McAbee took eighth in the event. Taylor Lagasse was second in Breakaway and seventh in Team Roping and Winter Williams also placed eighth in Breakaway. SWOSU had a trio of individuals place in Barrel Racing, led by Sadie Wolaver who won each round and ran away with the even, with Kaylee Scales (second) and Reagan Johnson (seventh) not far behind.
 
SWOSU's Men placed third on the strength of a trio of runner-up finishes, including Jesse Troyer in Bareback, Timothy Troyer in Saddle Bronc and Cody Keathley in Bull Riding. Jesse Troyer had rides of 65 and 70 points, which split first in the short go and got him a share of second in the average while Timothy Troyer had matching rides of 69 points to place second on broncs. Keathley was 72 points in the long round and won the short round with 77 points, which put him second in Bull Riding.
 
"I'm really proud of our teams and the way they came out and executed the game plan at Stillwater," SWOSU Rodeo Coach Mike Visnieski said. "We didn't draw the best, but our athletes did their jobs very well and it worked for them."
 
SWOSU Rodeo concludes the fall portion of their schedule on October 31 – November 2 in Alva, Okla., at the Northwestern Oklahoma State NIRA Rodeo.
