Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Softball hits the road to Durant this weekend to battle it out with Southeastern and will look to get back into the conference standings mix with a few wins over the Savage Storm
- As it stands, the Bulldogs are still searching for their first win of the season having been swept in two GAC series to begin conference play on top of their 0-8 non-conference record
- Last season the Dawgs played Southeastern only twice due to weather, but took both games from the Savage Storm by scores of 7-3 and 6-3
 
The Opponent
Southeastern (12-9, 6-2 GAC)
- Is coming off of back-to-back GAC series victories the past two weeks putting them tied for second in the league standings with two other teams
- Batting .284 as a team led by Symphoni Shomo who is hitting .403 in 20 games for SE
- Hold a 4.89 team ERA with Kelsey Meeks holding the circle down with 83.2 innings pitched already on the year and a 10-3 record
- The Savage Storm currently rank atop the GAC in fielding percentage at .967, having committed just 21 errors in 21 games 
 
The Coaches
SWOSU: Kim Maher (18-49, 2nd season)
- Enters year two of her time at the helm of SWOSU Softball looking to continue the rebuilding process of the program
- Named the fourth head coach in SWOSU Softball history on June 2, 2016, bringing with her a wealth of experience from the collegiate, professional and international levels of softball
- Spent eight seasons as the head coach at Purdue University, leading the Boilermakers to 240 victories and two NCAA Tournament appearances from 2006-13
- Previously coached at California-Berkeley as an assistant coach from 2000-05 following a playing career with USA Softball and the Women's Professional Softball League (WPSL)
 
Southeastern: Ron Faubion (709-339, 19th season)
- First joined the Southeastern Oklahoma State softball program in 1997 as the third coach in the program's history
- He served as the SE coach from 1997-2000, and after three years away, returned to the program in 2004
- In his two stints at SE, he has become the winningest all-time softball coach in SE history
 
SWOSU Notes
- Kinsey Skroh currently ranks seventh in the league in batting average between players with at least 10 games played, hitting .447 in 14 games for SWOSU
- Three other Bulldog hitters are hitting over .300 in the lineup including Sidney Kirk (.361), Amanda Moreno (.350), and Allyson Gafford (.321)
- Kirk leads the team in extra-base hits with five doubles and two home runs
- Kirk is also currently riding a seven game hitting streak, dating back to the final game in the Harding series
- Both Moreno and Samantha Householder lead with team in RBIs with nine apiece
 
Looking Ahead
- Next weekend SWOSU will again be on the road, this time against Southern Arkansas for another four-game conference series
