Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Softball hosts their first conference series of the season over the weekend against East Central, looking to pick up their first win on the year in the process
- The Bulldogs played in their home opener on Wednesday (Feb. 28) against (RV) Central Oklahoma and had the day spoiled by falling to the Bronchos 12-2 and 17-11
- Last season SWOSU took one of four from ECU on the road in Ada

East Central (6-8, 1-3 GAC)
- The Tigers come into the series 1-3 in league play after facing off with No. 7 Southern Arkansas last weekend in the GAC opener Â
- The offense is batting .272 as a team led by Catherine Berrera who is hitting an impressive .485 to lead the team
- In the circle, ECU holds a 7.87 team ERA with four pitchers with at least 10 innings logged on the year

The Coaches
SWOSU: Kim Maher (18-45, 2nd season)
- Enters year two of her time at the helm of SWOSU Softball looking to continue the rebuilding process of the program
- Named the fourth head coach in SWOSU Softball history on June 2, 2016, bringing with her a wealth of experience from the collegiate, professional and international levels of softball
- Spent eight seasons as the head coach at Purdue University, leading the Boilermakers to 240 victories and two NCAA Tournament appearances from 2006-13
- Previously coached at California-Berkeley as an assistant coach from 2000-05 following a playing career with USA Softball and the Women's Professional Softball League (WPSL)

East Central: Destini Anderson (314-260-1, 12th season)
- Reached the 200-win milestone in her career during the 2014 season, recording her 200th win March 21, 2014 in the 4-2 win at Southern Nazarene
- She is only the second head coach in program's history, replacing Ron Miller, who retired in July of 2006
- Is a 2001 graduate of Oklahoma Baptist University where she garnered several awards and set numerous school records, being inducted into the OBU Athletic Hall of Fame in November of 2009

SWOSU Notes
- SWOSU will be coming into Friday with momentum on the offensive side as the Bulldogs set season highs in runs scored (11), hits (14), RBIs (10), and doubles (4) in a single game in their last contest against UCO on Wednesday

Amanda Moreno is riding a five-game hitting streak which included a perfect 4-for-4 showing at the plate in game two against UCO on Wednesday

Kinsey Skroh is leading SWOSU in batting average at .538 with 10 games played an eight starts to her credit and she also leads the team in multi-hit games (5)

Samantha Householder both have one of SWOSU's two home runs on the year
- Householder also has a team leading eight runs batted in so far this season
Looking Ahead
- The Dawgs will travel to Durant next weekend for another GAC matchup with Southeastern on Friday and Saturday
