Softball Travels to Oklahoma Christian for Midweek Action

Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Softball will be looking for their first win of the season on Tuesday against Oklahoma Christian when the two play a midweek non-conference doubleheader at Tom Heath Field in Edmond
- The Bulldogs opened the season in Canyon, Texas against a pair of tough opponents including a nationally ranked West Texas A&M squad – dropping all four games of the invitational
- This will be the only action for softball this week, as they will not play again until next Tuesday (Feb. 20) against Central Oklahoma in Weatherford
  
The Opponent
Oklahoma Christian (5-5)
- The Lady Eagles have opened the season an even 5-5 so far, but will be hot coming into Tuesday having won four straight games
- Against GAC opponents this season, OC is 2-1 with wins over Southern Nazarene and Southeastern and a loss against Arkansas Tech
- Through 10 games this season, OC's offense is batting .263 as a team while the pitchers collectively hold a 4.05 team ERA
  
The Coaches
SWOSU: Kim Maher (18-37, 2nd season)
- Enters year two of her time at the helm of SWOSU Softball looking to continue the rebuilding process of the program
- Named the fourth head coach in SWOSU Softball history on June 2, 2016, bringing with her a wealth of experience from the collegiate, professional and international levels of softball
- Spent eight seasons as the head coach at Purdue University, leading the Boilermakers to 240 victories and two NCAA Tournament appearances from 2006-13
- Previously coached at California-Berkeley as an assistant coach from 2000-05 following a playing career with USA Softball and the Women's Professional Softball League (WPSL)
 
OC: Tom Heath (712-493-1, 24th season)
- Started OC's softball program in 1995 and quickly developed one of the state's top small-college programs
- Among college softball coaches who have worked primarily at an Oklahoma four-year university, Heath's career wins total ranks fifth
- He was inducted into the OC Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016

SWOSU Notes
- Starting and playing in all four games last week, Amanda Moreno led the lineup in batting average at .400 with one double and two runs scored
- Next in average was Hannah Morris at .333 who also started all four games for the Dawgs
- Moreno and Morris also combined to steal three bases without being thrown out
- Samantha Householder leads the team in RBI after one weekend, driving in four baserunners in four games
- As a team, SWOSU is batting .330 as a unit
- In the circle, SWOSU will look to improve after posting a 14.00 team ERA in four games against tough opposing offenses
- Rileigh Ricken logged a team high 9.0 innings of work on the rubber, followed by Sidney Kirk at 6.2 innings
- Kirk also dealt damage at the plate, hitting SWOSU's lone home run and collecting three hits in seven at-bats

- SWOSU Softball will take the weekend off and welcome UCO to Weatherford next Tuesday (Feb. 20) for a non-conference doubleheader
