STILLWATER, Okla. – The SWOSU Rodeo teams ventured to Stillwater over the weekend to compete at the OSU Cowboy Stampede, hosted by Oklahoma State, and returned with a fourth-place finish from the women's team while the men's team placed eighth.
 
Mable McAbee and Shelby Lankford scored points for the Dawgs in Breakaway Roping, with McAbee sharing first place in the short go and taking second in the average with Lankford close behind in fifth place. SWOSU had three place in the average of Goat Tying, with Kenzie Huffman and Sierra Meadows splitting second and third in the short go to finish second and third/fourth in the average, just ahead of Lankford in sixth. Shanna Simmons added a sixth-place average finish in Barrel Racing to help the Bulldogs total up 130 team points.
 
Wyatt Lohman and Nathan Hatchel carried the bulk of the scoring on the men's side, combining for three top-two rides in the long round. Lohman was second place in the long round of Bareback with 68 points and split second in Saddle Bronc with a ride of 73 points, but he was unable to compete in Saturday's short go due to injury. Hatchel scored 73 points in his first go at Bull Riding, placing second in the round.
 
"As a whole, we executed very well at Stillwater," SWOSU Head Rodeo Coach Mike Visnieski said. "Our women had a great rodeo and accumulated the most points of all 17 teams there. Mable, Kenzie and Sierra, in particular, did some outstanding work!"
 
SWOSU Rodeo returns to action on October 25-27 at the Alva Rodeo hosted by Northwestern Oklahoma State, which is the final fall rodeo on the Central Plains Region schedule.
