Setting the Stage
- SWOSU Softball (13-27, 11-19 GAC) gets to play two of their final four-game GAC series at home, beginning this weekend as the Dawgs host Ouachita on Alumni Weekend
- The teams will play a doubleheader on Friday afternoon at 2:00 pm and Saturday afternoon starting at noon
- The Bulldogs are 9-5 on their home field in the SWOSU Athletic Complex this season, winning at least two games in each four-game GAC series they've played
 
The Opponent
Ouachita Baptist (10-25, 4-23 GAC)
- Currently 12th in the Great American Conference standings with a 4-23 mark in league play and the Tigers are just 3-11 in true road games this season
- Ouachita has won three of their last six games, including a doubleheader sweep of Henderson State and one win in a four-game series with Northwestern Oklahoma State last weekend
- Ranked 10th in the GAC in hitting with a team batting average of .240, but their pitching staff has a 5.64 ERA, the highest among league teams
 
The Coaches
SWOSU: Barbara Burnett (21-64, 2nd season)
- In her second season as the head coach at her alma mater, having taken over after four seasons as the head softball coach at Independence Community College
 
Ouachita Baptist: Mike McGhee (263-342, 12th season)
- One of the longest tenured coaches in the GAC, now in his 12th season at Ouachita where he was led the Tigers to two 30-win seasons
 
SWOSU Notes
- After being swept last weekend, the Bulldogs dropped to 2-15 on the road this season and they're now tied for eighth place in the league standings with Southern Nazarene at 11-19
- Ashley Jones had her best series of the season at the plate, hitting .556 against the Reddies including a solo home run to tie game one in the seventh inning
- Tori Hawk had three hits in the Henderson State series, including her sixth home run, which ties Taya Haney for the team lead
- Taylor Eaves took the loss in two of the games against HSU, ending her streak with three straight decisions being wins
 
Looking Ahead
- Bulldog Softball goes on the road next Tuesday to face Northwestern Oklahoma State before returning home to host Arkansas Tech next weekend at the Athletic Complex
