Setting the Stage
- Bulldog Softball went 5-3 at home over the past two weeks, but the team goes on the road this weekend to face Oklahoma Baptist in Shawnee
- The teams will play a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon at 3:00 pm before concluding the series on Friday afternoon with a 1:00 pm doubleheader
- Both teams are battling for positioning in the conference standings with just over one month until the Great American Conference Tournament, which OBU is not eligible for while transitioning from NAIA to NCAA Division II

Oklahoma Baptist (9-17, 6-12 GAC)
- One game behind SWOSU in the conference standings heading into the weekend as the Lady Bison are in their first year of competing in the Great American Conference
- Ranked tenth in the GAC in batting, hitting .239 as a team with 93 runs scored and 12 home runs in 26 games
- OBU's pitching staff is eighth in the conference statistically with a 3.68 ERA and 90 earned runs allowed in 171.0 innings of action

SWOSU: Barbara Burnett (17-58, 2nd season)
- In her second season as the head coach at her alma mater, having taken over after four seasons as the head softball coach at Independence Community College
 
Oklahoma Baptist: Pam Fink (593-566, 23rd season)
- Member of the OBU Athletic Hall of Fame and she's guided the Lady Bison softball program since 1993, leading the team to a school-record five consecutive regional tournaments
 
SWOSU Notes
- The Bulldogs heads into the series with four wins in their last five games and with a series win over Southern Nazarene, SWOSU eclipsed their win total from 2015
- Taya Haney enters the weekend with a team-leading seven-game hit streak while Kenedi Jackson also has a six-game hitting streak currently alive
- Miranda McDonald, Alex Wilson and Haney all lead the Bulldogs with eight multi-hit games this season while Wilson has three, three-hit games to her credit
- Tori Hawk and Haney are the only players on the roster with a four-RBI game this season and Hawk has done so twice
- SWOSU pitchers Larie Amos, Taylor Eaves and Rileigh Ricken combined to allow just three runs in 19.2 innings of work against SNU last weekend
