Setting the Stage
- SWOSU Softball's second home series of the 2016 season – first in three weeks – has been postponed but will be played on Sunday and Monday against Arkansas-Monticello at the SWOSU Athletic Complex
- The Bulldogs enter the weekend on an eight-game slide, having been swept in road conference series at Southeastern Oklahoma State and Southern Arkansas the past two weeks
- UAM has opened conference play with a 10-2 record, two games behind Southeastern and Arkansas Tech for the top mark in the conference
 
The Opponent
Arkansas-Monticello (15-7, 10-2 GAC)
- Tied for third in the GAC standings at 10-2 with sweeps in two of their three league series
- Have won five straight league games and six of their last seven games overall, dating back to a series split at Oklahoma Baptist
- Strong at home with an 8-0 mark in Monticello, but they are 7-7 away from home, including a 3-3 mark in true road games
- Holly Wilmarth is their leading hitter, batting .403 with 29 hits, two doubles, seven home runs and 22 RBI
- Both of their starting pitchers, Elizabeth Delafield and Kendra Coleman, have six wins and their team ERA is 2.97

- In her second season as the head coach at her alma mater, having taken over after four seasons as the head softball coach at Independence Community College
 
Arkansas-Monticello: Alvy Early (613-298-2, 20th season)
- All-time winningest coach in both women's basketball and softball at UAM, where he has led the softball program since 1997
 
SWOSU Notes
- Bulldogs rank eighth in the GAC in team batting with an average of .254 along with 148 hits, 17 doubles and nine home runs
- SWOSU's pitching is 12th, statistically, in the conference with a 5.43 ERA, having given up 191 hits and 112 earned runs in 144.1 innings
- Taya Haney is SWOSU's top offensive threat, batting .392 with a team-best 13 RBI on 20 hits, including three doubles
- Haney is a duel-threat performer for SWOSU with a 2-6 record and 7.44 ERA from the pitching circle
- Tori Hawk leads SWOSU with six doubles, she's tied for the team lead with three home runs and her 12 RBI are second on the team
- Five of SWOSU's regulars in the rotation are batting .300 or better: Haney (.392), Abigail Schade (.378), Kenedi Jackson (.333), Miranda McDonald (.326) and Alex Wilson (.316)
