Bulldogs Finish Out Regular Season in Bethany Against SNU

Setting the Scene:
- SWOSU Soccer (12-3-1, 9-2 GAC) finishes up the regular season in Bethany against Southern Nazarene on Saturday at 5 pm
- The match up will be a preview of the first round of the Great American Conference Tournament, as the two teams are already slated to face off in the post season next Thursday
- The Bulldogs defeated the Crimson Storm 2-0 back on October 6 in Weatherford  
 
The Coaches:
SWOSU: Mark Persson (68-55-12; 8th season)
- Since taking over the program in 2009, Persson has amassed a 68-55-12 record, 
becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history
- Persson also led the Bulldogs to back-to-back GAC Championships in 2012 and 2013
- A two time All-Conference Coach of the Year, Persson holds a 37-24-7 record in GAC play
- He has coached one All-American, 12 All-Region players, and numerous All-Conference players during his time in Weatherford
 
Southern Nazarene: Julie Duncan (65-72-5; 7th season)
- Coach Duncan was the 2014 Great American Conference Coach of the Year after her team won the conference championship
- She has led the Crimson Storm to two SAC (NAIA) Conference Championships, including a runner-up finish in the NAIA National Championship game in 2009
- Duncan's coaching career began at Moore High School, where she coached the Moore girls' soccer program for 17 seasons
 
The Opponent:
Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm (6-11, 5-6 GAC)
- Currently sit in fourth place in the GAC standings coming off a win against Northwestern on Thursday
- Solidified their position in the conference post season tournament as the No. 4 seed
- Meagan Chase leads the Southern Nazarene offensive attack with her team-leading seven goals this season
- Two other players for SNU have scored five goals each in Hannah Robinson and Kelsi Bussert
- The Crimson Storm have won their last two matches by a combined score of 7-1 coming into the match against SWOSU
 
Bulldog Facts:
- After a 4-0 victory at Oklahoma Baptist, the Dawgs claimed the 2016 GAC regular-season championship for their first conference title since winning back-to-back in 2012 and 2013
- In a battle for the NCAA Division II scoring title, Alimata Rabo currently sits atop the nation with her 22 goals scored this year
- Sandra Nabweteme ranks tied for fourth having netted 19 balls of her own so far this season
- The blanking against OKBU was SWOSU's sixth shutout of the season
-  With another goal on Thursday, Ashlyn Collier now ranks fifth in the GAC with seven goals and sixth in the conference by averaging 1.12 points per game

- SWOSU will host the post-season tournament in Weatherford that will start next Thursday, November 3 and go through Saturday, November 5
- Ouachita Baptist (#2) will play Harding (#3) at noon on Thursday, followed immediately by SWOSU (#1) against Southern Nazarene (#4) at 3 pm
- The winners of the semi-final matches will take a day off before playing in the championship game on Saturday, November 5 at 11 am
