Bulldog Soccer Hosts Rival Rangers to Start Second Leg of GAC Schedule

Setting the Scene:
- SWOSU Soccer (8-2-1) hosts rival Northwestern Oklahoma State starting the second half of Great American Conference play
- The game is scheduled for a 3 pm start time out at the Athletic Complex
- The Bulldogs beat the Rangers by a score of 6-1 back on Sept. 20 in Alva  
 
The Coaches:
SWOSU: Mark Persson (68-55-12; 8th season)
- Since taking over the program in 2009, Persson has amassed a 68-55-12 record, 
becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history
- Persson also led the Bulldogs to back-to-back GAC Championships in 2012 and 2013
- A two time All-Conference Coach of the Year, Persson holds a 37-24-7 record in GAC play
- He has coached one All-American, 12 All-Region players, and numerous All-Conference players during his time in Weatherford
 
NWOSU: Craig Liddell (3-14-1; 2nd season)
- Liddell coached Enid High School for 15 seasons prior to collegiate coaching
- Coach Liddell was a two-time All-Golden State Athletic Conference selection playing at California Baptist
- He also has his USSF, National "A", and National "Youth" Licenses
 
The Opponent
Northwestern Oklahoma State (0-12, 0-6 GAC)
- The Rangers sit in last place in the GAC standings having not won a conference match yet
- Yazmin Gomez leads the NWOSU attack holding both the team lead in goals and shots
 
Bulldog Facts
- After scoring two more goals against OKBU, Sandra Nabweteme moved ahead of teammate Alimata Rabo with an NCAA leading 16 goals scored this season
- Rabo is now in second place in Division II with 15 goals
- Courtney Flores and the Bulldog defense have now shutout five different opponents this season
- On Saturday, midfielder Shelley Mueller scored the game-winning goal over the Lady Bison in overtime for just her second goal of the season
- The Bulldogs are now tied with Ouachita Baptist atop the GAC standings with their 5-1 conference record
 
Looking Ahead
- SWOSU travels to face East Central on Thursday, Oct. 13 to face the Tigers for the second time this season
- The Bulldogs will then return home to host Harding a week later on Thursday, Oct. 20 and then Ouachita two days later on Saturday, Oct. 22
