Setting the Scene
- SWOSU returns home for a four-game Great American Conference series against Henderson State on Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 1 pm
- The Bulldogs made the trip to Henderson State last season and were swept in a four-game series
- Having lost their last six games on the bounce, SWOSU will be looking for their first win since February 14 against Texas A&M-Commerce
- SWOSU will be welcoming softball alumni back to campus as part of their Alumni Weekend in conjunction with the baseball team

The Coaches
SWOSU: Barbara Burnett (4-12, 1st season)
- Burnett returns to her alma mater to lead the Bulldog softball program for the first time this spring
- She has spent the last four seasons among the junior college ranks at Independence Community College in Independnce, Kan. where she left as the all-time winningest coach in program history with a 112 wins
- While at Independence she led the Lady Pirates to back-to-back regional runners-up finishes while breaking numerous program records and ranking nationally in the Top Five in offensive production
- She has coached two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Americans, two National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Americans, 16 NJCAA All-Region selections and 13 All-Conference selections

Henderson State: Beth Jackson (142-181, 7th season)
- Jackson begins her seventh season in charge of the Henderson State softball team. She became the first women to coach the Lady Reddies in program history
- She has led the team to five conference tournaments, including the GAC Tournament the last two seasons. The Lady Reddies took second place at the GAC Tournament in 2013, their best finish to date
- There have been 20 all-conference players developed under her watch, including four players with multiple all-conference honors
- Prior to her appointment at HSU, Jackson made coaching stops at Arkansas Tech, North Alabama and Nashville (Ark.) HS

The Opponent
Henderson State (12-6, 3-3 GAC)
- HSU has won three of their last six games, and most recently split their series 1-1 with Southern Arkansas after the second day of was cancelled due to weather
- The Lady Reddies have been active at the plate, recording the third-best batting average in the GAC at .333. Sarah Gipson in particular has been consistent with her at-bats, boasting a .446 batting average to go along with a .768 slugging percentage
- Scoring 124 runs, Henderson State is second in the conference. The team has also recorded 109 RBI. Tricia Hock has scored 20 runs herself, and Amy Halter has recorded 18 runs, to rank in the top six in the GAC. Gipson leads the conference with 26 RBI
- Aggressive base running has been an early trend for HSU, attempting the second-most steals (34) and successfully stealing the second-most bases (31) as well. Halter is 10-10 on stolen base attempts this season
- In the circle, the Lady Reddies lead the league with an ERA of 2.51 while giving up conference-lows in runs (52) and earned runs (42). Michelle Sorensen and Ashlyn White rank second and third in the conference with a 2.00 and 2.30 ERA respectively. Opponents have a batting average of just .182 facing Sorensen

Last Time Out
- The Bulldogs fell 8-3 to Texas Woman's in Denton, Texas, last week to drop to 4-12 overall
- Maci Brown led the team at the plate, going 1-2. Her one hit was a solo effort over the left field fence to give SWOSU their only lead of the game at 1-0 in the top of the second
- Molly Vivo took the loss and is now 1-6 on the season

Checking the Standings
- SWOSU (4-12, 0-4 GAC) sits at the bottom of the standings, the only team that has yet to record a conference win this season
- Arkansas-Monticello (12-3, 6-0 GAC) leads the conference in the standings and is the only team that has yet to suffer a conference loss
- Southeastern Oklahoma State (10-9, 6-2 GAC) is in second, while Southern Arkansas (12-7, 6-3 GAC) rounds out the top three
- Arkansas Tech (10-4, 4-2 GAC) and East Central (9-9, 6-4 GAC) are the other two remaining teams with winning conference records
- Henderson State (12-6, 3-3 GAC) sits in eight place, but hold a 2-4 road record as they come to Weatherford to face SWOSU

Bulldog Facts
- The Bulldogs have a .331 batting average entering the series with Henderson State, the third best average in the conference. SWOSU also boasts a.500 slugging percentage. Brown is fourth in the league with a .487 average. Adrienne Martinez leads the team and is eighth in the GAC with a .804 slugging percentage
- SWOSU has scored 97 runs with 92 RBI, placing fifth in the conference in both categories. Martinez leads the team with 16 runs. Ashley Jones is tied for seventh in the GAC with 16 RBI to her credit

- Trotter has caught three runners attempting to steal, tied for the sixth-most in the GAC
- SWOSU has a field percentage of .947 due to 27 errors

- SWOSU has a busy week of travel scheduled for next week. The team will first head to Portales, N.M., to take on ENMU in a doubleheader in nonconference action. The Bulldogs will then make the trek to Arkadelphia, Ark., for a four-game conference series against Ouachita Baptist
