Adrienne Martinez homered twice – including a go-ahead two-run shot in the seventh – and had five RBI for the Bulldogs, but it was not enough to hold off the Rangers in game one. The Rangers worked around a run in the bottom of the inning to force extra innings with the game tied at 9-9.

Molly Vivo hit the third home run of the game for SWOSU to lead off the eighth inning and put the Dawgs up 10-8 and within three outs of the win. With two outs in the eighth, however, the Rangers had two runners on for Tiffany Santistevan, who cleared the left center fence to give NW the victory.
