Late Runs Helps Bulldogs Earn Saturday Split at Southeastern

DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU softball scored five runs in the final two innings of their series against first-place Southeastern Oklahoma State – after scoring just two runs in the previous three games – to earn a Saturday split with the Savage Storm. The Bulldogs lost the opener 8-0 in five innings before a 5-3 victory in the night cap.

SWOSU was held to two hits in the opener while Southeastern scored seven runs in the second inning to break the game open. The Savage Storm added another run in the fourth and to earn the run-rule.
 
Julianne Martinez pitched 2.0 innings, allowing six hits and seven earned runs to take the loss.

The Bulldogs had little going in game two as they trailed 3-0 heading into the sixth inning, but a 3-run home run from Kendall Smith in the sixth tied the game and RBI hits by Nikki Brandt and Molly Vivo put SWOSU in position for the upset victory.
 
Martinez relieved Mallory Davis in game two and threw four shutout innings to earn the victory.
 
 
SWOSU is now 12-36 (8-28 GAC) on the year heading into the final series of the season, a trip to Southern Arkansas next weekend.
